You

Messages from Paramahamsa Prajnananda - Miami Ashram 23 Sept 2007

I bow to God. I bow to Gurudev. I bow to you all — those who are here and those who are not here. I bow to every living being in any form.

Good morning to you all.

I send my love and best wishes, my prayer, and holy communion to you all from Gurudev’s abode in Homestead, Florida. As I am sitting in the meditation hall with many loving disciples, I am also thinking of you all who are sitting in different parts of the world and trying to meditate.

The month of September is a beautiful month for many reasons. The first is from a seasonal point of view. We know that this is the end of summer and the beginning of fall. In the month of September there is the birthday of Lord Krishna, the mahasamadhi, the departure of Lahiri Mahasaya, which is on the 26th, and his birthday on the 30th. This is a beautiful month. Gurudev established this ashram in Miami on 22nd of September. So that is again beautiful. Today is the 23rd.

Swami Shriyukteshwarji emphasized the significance of the 22nd of March and 22nd of September as the Equinox Day. The Equinox Day is when the day and night are equal on the equator. The sun remains on the equator. Now there will be more sunlight in the southern hemisphere, less light in the northern hemisphere.

The play of life, the play of light, the play of love, the play of consciousness, which is going on in the universe outside is also in the body in each one’s life. So, on this special day of Equinox I am sending all my love to you.

So far as I recollect I am now talking with you again since April. In the meantime we finished Gurudev’s Birth Centenary. Within one year, from 2006 May to 2007 May, we celebrated in more than 108 places, with so much of love, joy, and enthusiasm. There were meditation programs and publication of many literatures, especially a great achievement in the history of Kriya Yoga was to bring out Gurudev’s Complete Works in ten volumes, in about five thousand pages. It is a beautiful treasure of spiritual wisdom that you can treasure and get Gurudev’s direct guidance through his teachings.

The closing ceremony at Cuttack was a historical one, where thousands and thousands people congregated, meditated, and participated in different programs. It was nearly a six-day program.

However, now I will emphasize near you to meditate more. Remember, without meditation human nature will not get transformed. In Kriya Yoga the priority is meditation. Gurudev has told again and again how to meditate in every breath. Take a very little breath, search Him inside the head, then you will see milk-white light covering the whole world with divine sight.

Calmly search God in the fontanel.

Kriya Yoga meditation has two aspects. One is meditation with eyes closed, being in introvert state, the other one is meditation with eyes open, to live in the world in meditative state. Meditative state means being in the loving state of God consciousness, being grateful and thankful to God whatever we do. We have to meditate. Gurudev has said, “My loving children, please, practise Kriya nicely.”

We all are practising Kriya for a good period of time. Still we have to see:

-         What is my change?
-         What is my transformation?

Meditation brings transformation. If you do not get any transformation, see if there is some leakage. Just like in a pot — if there is leakage, then the water or any liquid substance cannot stay in it longer. We have to meditate and we have to pray with sincere effort — that is why Gurudev has introduced group meditation with Kriya practise. Step by step to practice; each step with love. Do technique with love. Even do one bow, but bow with love. Love is essential with your practise. It should not be mechanical — every technique with love.

Gurudev’s guidance is always resounding in the heart of us all. We should put it into practise.

Practise, practise, practise, then you will surely behold the divine goal. Practise brings perfection. Kriya Yoga is not imagination or hallucination; it is direct perception. The more you will practise, the more you will perceive. Every breath in love. So simple, so easy. Gurudev told again and again, “Kriya Yoga is the easiest and simplest technique.” As breath is going in and coming out, so easily in a natural process, meditation should be very natural and spontaneous.

Dyavat dhyanam sahaja sadrsam
jayate naiva tattvam
Sahaja sadrsa, dhyanam

Sahaja means “easy.” Sahaja means “breath” — as easy as breath. Every breath in consciousness, in love, is the stepping stone to inner calmness and meditation. Every breath – don’t miss it. People think, “Is it possible? Or it is not possible.” I am assuring you that can be one can be conscious of it if you don’t put any question mark or doubt. Whatever you do, you can be aware of breath. In every breath try to observe it. The breath is flowing inside the nose and with that flow of breath feel the power of God moving in the body, moving in the fontanel, heaviness, crawling sensation. Love. Be thankful. Be grateful to God. Be grateful to the Gurus. Life is such a beautiful opportunity. Time doesn’t wait for anybody. If you waste your time, then you are wasting your life. Reaching the summit, arising at the goal will be delayed.

Gurudev said, “Waste time with none but God, then time will not be wasted.”

Anything you do, thank God. Walk, love God. Work, love God. Love in continuity. That is what meditation — flow of love.

Gurudev sang the song of Tagore on one of his birthdays.

dhay yena mor sakal bhalobasa
prabhu tomar pane, tomar pane, tomar pane

“Let all my love flow towards Thee, O God, towards Thee, towards Thee, towards Thee.”

All my love. Not divided attention. Complete. If we can love God completely, then that is realisation, that is emancipation, that is Truth — complete love — and that is what we have to perceive, to practise, to experience. That is what we need. Life is such a beautiful opportunity. Again I am telling — don’t waste your time. Don’t waste your life. Make your life more systematic and planed. Take time for your own practise. Do not postpone your spiritual practise in the name of work, as many people do, thinking that when I finish my work, then I will meditate. When my examination is over I will meditate, when this work is over I will find time to meditate. Remember, you will not find time. You have to find time now, here and today. Don’t keep anything for tomorrow. Time planning, time management, is essential otherwise we are going to miss such a beautiful treasure and gift that God has given to us. Love and live, live and love, live to love. No breath, no life, no breath, no love, just every breath you watch. What more to tell?

An ounce of practise is better than tons of theories. While listening to Prajnanananda can you keep your attention on the top, and while listening simultaneously watching the breath, and while listening making the resolve, the promise: I will bring change into my life? Just like from one burning candle, we can light many candles. Similarly, I will light a candle in every chakra. With one burning candle of love I will light a candle in every door of the body — in the eyes, in the ears, in the nose, in the mouth, in every sense organs. I will live in knowledge, I will live in light. I will live in love. Ignorance and delusion cannot come to me and touch me, I am free.

Live in light, live in love, live in Truth.

samsayatma vinasyati

Don’t bring any doubt or confusion, just love. Love is beyond everything.

I send my love and best wishes to you all.

I am praying to God for all of you, for your health and happiness, for your peace and prosperity.

Those who have really helped in Gurudev’s Centenary Celebration, my love and gratitude will always remain. This is a once in our lifetime celebration. But now the real celebration is in our heart — to celebrate Gurudev’s presence through our meditation. I humbly request you: Please, please, please meditate, don’t waste time. Before going to bed, even if you are lying down, meditate in lying posture. When sleep has gone, get up, sit there and meditate. Anything you do, do in love, in prayer, in thankfulness. Kri and Ya — activity and divinity, like two sides of the same coin. It should go simultaneously, hand in hand. Love, love, love. Love God. I talked a lot. I will not talk more.

Whenever you have time, just sit down for few minutes, close the eyes, and look within to what is happening. Let not restlessness disturb your inner peace. Gurudev said, “Activity is essential, but be calmly active. Do your activities and maintain that inner calmness.”

Now is the time. Concentrate in the fontanel. Stay there without any distraction or deviation. Every breath is an offering. Observe your inhalation and exhalation. O God, O God. Each breath in love. Each breath as an offering. Each breath is a prayer. Each breath is a thanksgiving. I thank you, thank you, thank you. Love, love, love. Love is thanksgiving.

I bow to you all. Meditate silently, in peace and love, in joy and harmony.
