Paramahamsa Yogananda

Baba Yoganandaji (Gurudev to his disciples) was born on January 5, 1893 and entered mahasamadhi on March 7, 1952. Baba Yoganandaji once disclosed that he was the reincarnation of Arjuna  - one of the Pandava Kings ( in the epic Mahabharata). Arjuna was Lord Krishna's foremost disciple. Lord Krishna was Arjuna's charioteer and gave His discourse - The Bhagawat Gita and a vision of His Divine Self at the start of the Battle of Patliputra. The Discourse gave Arjuna enlightenment and strength to face his responsibilities.

During his presence in this realm, Gurudev initiated and guided countless souls to the shores of the Divine. His foundation - The Self-Realisation Fellowship and Yogoda Satsanga Society of India now carry on this blessed task.

Baba Paramhansa Yoganandaji lived fearlessly by the highest percepts of religion; and proclaimed that all devotees of the Heavenly Father, no natter what their creed, are equally dear to Him. A college education and many years of spiritual training in his native land - India, under the Spartan discipline of his Guru - Swami Sri Yugteswar, prepared Paramahansa Yoganandaji for his mission in the West. He went to Boston in 1920 as in Indian delegate to a Congress fo Religious Liberals, and remained in America for over thirty years (except for a return visit to India in 1935-36).

Gurudev once remarked "So long as people in this world are crying for help, I shall return to ply my boat and offer to take them to the heavenly shores" So when you meditate that day, please remember him with all your love and devotion and he is sure to hasten your spiritual advancement.
